Inventing My Own iPad Application for Maxis

Maxis contest participant badge

Finally, the eagle has landed!..Maxis iPads are now available through Maxis throughout Malaysia. Get yourself in line and grab it today! Talk about iPad, i have a brilliant idea for an iPad application.
Sample 'MyTRAINFO' Preview
Recently, our beloved Prime Minister has announced the long awaited plan to expand the public transportation to the masses by launching the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) from Sungai Buloh all the way to Kajang which includes my parents home in Balakong..wehuuu!!...anyway..that's a very long train line from Sungai Buloh to Kajang..So let's say you traveled from Sungai Buloh to say Cheras and you just had to finish this addictive game in your iPad 3G and you can't simply let your eyes slip away from it..after a few minutes or so you thought! you raise up you head and you realized that you've missed your stop or interchange? (and you started cursing in your heart and blamed the announcer that he speaks too slow you didn't hear it)...then you wished that somebody could have told you that your station is nearing and you need to get ready to get off! That's my idea for an iPad 3G application. An application specially tailored for our current and future train public systems . View below why i think it will be a brilliant application. Though i need to remind you that this might only work (the GPS tracking) on iPad 3G since only iPad 3G that has a GPS built in. I call it "MyTRAINFO"

Suggested Functions:
  1. To have a complete and up to date rail information.
  2. To have LIVE info on the service availability of each of the available train lines (Delay, Closed, etc)
  3. To have a travel cost and time calculator that will enable the user to estimate the cost and time taken to travel from point A to B, and also provide alternative route based on time, cost, accessibilities.
  4. Main function: To alert the user that their destination is nearing REAL TIME. This can be done by geotagging each of the stations using GPS.
  5. Provide info on what's available and interesting around the station area (Tourist information, event information, facilities) This information can be added by the app users or also advertisers.
  6. To provide the users on the nearest station around them (Augmented Reality style if possible). Also it would be superb if we can also do a search based on which area we wanted to go or what landmarks around it.
